Vibrant, varied and like nowhere else on Earth, India is a land of passion, colour and adventure. From the foothills of the Himalayas to the tranquil backwaters of Kerala, a new experience awaits around every corner. Be inspired by the Taj Mahal while navigating India’s Golden Triangle, taking in bustling Delhi and the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, board a boat on the sacred Ganges, or ride camels in the deserts of Rajasthan, the range of experiences are endless.

India is set apart from the rest of Asia by the Himalayas, the highest, youngest and still evolving mountain chain on the planet. The subcontinent as it is rightly called, touches three large water bodies and is immediately recognizable on any world map. This thick, roughly triangular peninsula defines the Bay of Bengal to the east, the Arabian sea to the west, and the India Ocean to the south.

India flights usually enter the country at Mumbai (formerly Bombay), Delhi, Chennai (formerly Madras), Kolkata (Calcutta) and Bangalore although other Indian airports have been upgraded to receive International flights including charters to Goa and Trivandrum. From the UK, direct flight times are around ten hours. Flights to India take you to a unique and fascinating travel destination, steeped in culture, unpredictable, and full of clamour and diversity. Whether you visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, Darjeeling's hill station monasteries and tea plantations, or choose to explore Delhi, or the distinctly Portuguese beach resorts of Goa, you cannot fail to be overawed and astounded at this incredible country. Don't forget to try coconut water - a sweet and safe-to-drink beverage that is easily found in Indian tourist destinations and the many and varied foods using local spices.

As the weather varies widely across India, flight prices can depend on where within the country you fly to. Speaking very generally, high season will be around May and June, although the Christmas season, school holidays, October (no monsoon for much of the country) and November can also be very popular. The best method of finding a cheap flight, at these times, is to use our price comparison tool and then book your flight well in advance. Goa is only served direct through the winter months on dedicated charter services.
Cheap flights to India will generally be easier to find during monsoon season, roughly July until September, though this can vary according to the area of India in question. In the winter months of January and December, it can get very cold in some parts of India, which will also cause a drop in air fares to those areas.

Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, is the fastest moving, most affluent and industrialised city in India. Mumbai is part of India's beautiful west coast, that runs down from Gujarat, through Mumbai to Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. Delhi, the capital of India, is an amalgam of the old and the new. The ancient and the modern times are in juxtaposition here, not only in the remains of a succession of empires, but equally in present social structure and lifestyles.
